In the grand Egyptian wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, tours were being guided. Students turned out dressed to the nines in gowns and heels, suits and ties. There were infinite snacks like popcorn, teriyaki meatballs, mac ‘n’ cheese balls and mini grilled cheese. The DJ played dance music over the dance floor of the atrium in the Egyptian wing, ending the night with the song “Walk Like an Egyptian” by The Bangles. Students joined together for the high point of the night, when Rihanna’s “We Found Love” blasted and the dance floor was really alive.

“The room is beautiful, seriously when you see it your jaw will drop. It’s sold out and it’s huge, there are one thousand people here. Everyone’s been taking tours of the exhibits, and it’s great having an event here because the Met is a New York City icon,” said Dan Cassin, a Tisch freshman.

“It’s incredible. This is the reason I came to NYU. What other school goes to the Met for a gala? I’m here with my friends in a dress and it’s great,” said CAS freshman Danielle Zolit.

“All I heard was that it was at the Met and I couldn’t miss out on this opportunity. It’s the Met. I love the Met,” said LSP freshman Lydia Paris.
