Picked straight from the garden, Zang Toi’s Spring/Summer 2013 line featured French-inspired neutrals and icy pastels.
With the sounds of birds chirping and falling rain in the background, the show began with models walking down the runway wearing ivory silks with ruffled, flowered, and laced details.
Toi included some professional styles for the workplace, comprised of black pants and skirts with white lace detail, as well as tweed cocktail dresses and trouser suits.
Toi’s most memorable pieces were his ivy pastel evening gowns. Many of the dresses made of yellow, pink, and lilac silk had open backs that were outlined with silk roses, beaded flowers, or ice-crystal blossoms. Each dress looked as if they were carefully picked from a French Riviera garden.
The grand finale was a stunning strapless slim-fit black silk gown, worn with a cloud of ivory tulle shrug detailed with hand-beaded blossoms.
Models wore minimal make-up with low, full buns and simple heels in complementing colors.
Toi’s French Riviera inspired collection brilliantly mixed classic Parisian prints and lace with modern fits and pastel colors. Actress Kirstie Alley, Miss Teen USA Logan West, singer/songwriter Shontelle, Sonja Morgan of Real Housewives of New York, and Julie Macklowe were among those in attendance.
