In all of these recent thefts, the victims were threatened with knives before their personal belongings were snatched. All of the victims were white females between the ages of 24 and 36, police said, and on Aug. 28 alone, four robberies occurred between 4:20 a.m. and 8:40 a.m.

The locations of the attacks are detailed on the map accompanying this story. The trio's most recent robbery was on Aug. 31 at 2:30 a.m. at 60 E. Ninth St.

The muggers have been described as two black males and one black female.

Four attacks also occurred on the Fordham University campus between Aug. 22 and Sept. 18, said Bob Howe, the director of communications for Fordham University.

According to Howe, all four attacks were located outside of an apartment building on Lorillard Place, and all the victims were Fordham students. However, there is no confirmation that all four attacks were committed by the same group of people.

"Since the first robbery, Fordham's department of safety and security has been cooperating closely with the NYPD to identify and arrest the perpetrators," Howe said.

Howe added that NYPD assured Fordham they had "increased ... assets in the area, including detectives and street crime personnel."

According to NYU Campus Safety, none of the victims were NYU students. Still, the department has posted community alerts as a precautionary measure.

According to Patrick Wing, assistant director of NYU campus safety, NYU students have a wide selection of resources to ensure their safety, including call boxes, safe haven locations and the Safe Ride van service.

Wing advised NYU students to always travel in pairs and be aware of their surroundings.

"People are often fixated on going from point A to point B and don't pay attention to suspicious people," Wing said.
