“Where do I go?” and other answers for displaced students.
Posted onLive in 13th Street, Alumni, Carlyle, Coral, Rubin, 2nd Street, 7th Street, Brittany, Broome, Greenwich, Hayden, or Lafayette? Don’t have power off-campus? By tomorrow at 3 p.m., you have to relocate.
Comment below if you are a student in an off-campus apartment that can take someone in, with how to reach you (e-mail). Likewise, students who need a place to stay should comment.
Where to go, according to NYU
Students started congregating in Bobst and Kimmel for charging as early as this morning. It’s crowded and we’re getting reports of long lines and squabbles over food. Hang in there.

If you have a friend or a friend of a friend who is offering you a place to stay, go there. There are no reports of how you’ll be sleeping as power is being restored in your dorm/apartment, but someone’s couch will definitely be comfier.
MTA Buses are running for free tomorrow all over Manhattan. To get to the Upper East Side get over to 1st Ave and take the M15 up to your desired block. There are also buses that go across the main blocks (14th, 34th, 42nd, etc.)
Otherwise, head to your designated location.
But first, pack.
If you haven’t already, get a bag and pack up. Don’t overpack, you’ll be able to access your rooms during the day but grab a change of clothes or two, hygiene basics, and medicine. Bring all of your chargers.
Also, grab a book. Or two. Charging lines have been long, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to surf the internet all day.
Head uptown if you can
Above 42nd street, bodegas, delis and supermarkets are open and pretty well stocked. Power is on. The Local East Village has also compiled a list of what’s open to help you in the quest for water and food.
Stay Safe
This is one of the biggest storms New York has seen in recent history. Watch out for downed wires and trees. If you walk out in the evening, go with a friend and don’t go too far.
